One of my main goto rigs towards the end of Summer and early Fall has been using a 3/0 hook with a plastic worm. I rig it Texas-rigged (without a weight). Cast it out and let it sink without reeling. Depending on the weight of the work you are using, and the water depth, this can take up to 10 - 15 seconds. Once it hits bottom, I give it 1 or 2 turns on the reel, let it settle, then continue to do the same. Vary the speed of your reeling to see what they are interested in. Usually I get a hit while the worm is sinking. Now, you need to wait until you feel the fish pulling on the line. Don't get too excited and set the hook or you will lose a lot of fish. Wait until you feel the pressure on the end of the pole. Then pull back. You don't have to try and rip it out of their mouth either. This has worked really good for me in the past couple of months. Hope it helps.
