Water Temp: High 50's to low 60's *Lower Lake* Trout Plant: 01/12/2010 *Upper Lake* Trout Plant 2000 LBS: 03/23/2010
The department of Fish and Game has posted that they will be stocking catchable sized trout in the Main Upper lake of Castaic. Fishing has slowed down quite a bit from recent weeks, but most shore anglers are still catching them down the dam in the corner near the tower. Dines and chovies are still the bait of choice for the shore baiters and the boat baiters. The largemouth have been bedding all over the lake and for the most part they are biting almost anything. Still drop shooting is the bests set up for these bass but fluke's and other little minnow baits have been pretty successful. The morning bite has been the best for the largemouth and around 2 o clock it picks back up to finish off the day is a decent bite. Largemouth at the lower lake have also been doing a lot better on Senkos and Robo Worms. The Crappie bite has been phenomenal in the weeds down at the lagoon, it seem to be an all day bite. Little crappie jigs and wax worm have been killin the pan fish. The size of these crappie and blue gill range from about .25 pound to 2 pounds and you can find them all along the shoreline and near the fishing pier.
