The department of fish and game will be planting catchable sized rainbow trout at the Upper Lake this week. Fishing has been getting a lot better and with the trout on the way it can only get better. Striper have been going off at the fore bay buoy line on sardines and chovies. Sharron's rest hasn't been doing so great but Elizabeth Cyn is another hot spot to pick up those schoolie stripers. Down the main dam, anglers have still been able to reel in on some nice sized stripers off of swimbaits but it is still a heavy cut bait bite. Large mouth are being spotted protecting their beds all over the lake but are still very stubborn and are difficult to catch. Some top water baits have been working but worms and creature baits are the best bet. Hawks nest, SS ski, and Utopia have been the best coves to catch the largies. Fishing for large mouth at the lower lagoon has been fantastic this past week. Tons of crappie are being caught all over the shoreline and in 25 to 35 feet of water out on the boats. Ice jigs have been the best bait for the boaters and little white crappie jigs with pink heads have been the best bait for the shoreline anglers.
