Weather: Temperatures have been in the 60’s in the morning and rising to the high 70’s in the afternoon.

BASS
Bedding bass have been biting in the coves and along the dams between 5 and 15 feet. Texas or Carolina rigged lizards and brush hogs, Senkos, tube jigs, and drop shot rigged straight tails in purple variations have been the most reported baits. There has been sporadic lure action for the first hour of the day mostly with topwater and shallow jerks or cranks. Gary Baker of San Marcos caught a 7.5 pound bass fishing the north shore with a green pumpkin Senko. Steven Frazier had his best topwater day ever catching over 20 bass back to back in the early morning. Steven summed up DVL bass fishing by saying. “If every day was like today, fishing would have a new name....it would be called catching instead of fishing.”
TROUT
Trout fishing has been fair for boaters and shore anglers. Nightcrawlers, Powerbait, Powerworms, and mini Jigs have been the best baits. Most trout catches have been on the east dam or the coves west of the marina.
STRIPER
Anglers reported a few small striper catches this week on swimbaits. The most reported spots have been Rawson cove, near the rock quarry, and by restroom 2. LA Sliders, Lunker Punkers, and Zplugs are the most common baits. Louie Vega of Hemet caught 3 striper at 22, 19, and 18 pounds fishing from shore with a Zplug.
CATFISH
The cats have made a comeback! Several anglers reported catches over 5 lbs. Mackerel and anchovies have been the most reported baits, but shrimp and chicken liver has accounted for a few reports. The most reported areas have been the inlet tower, Rawson cove, and the wave attenuator.
PANFISH
The panfish reports were fair this week with crappie being the predominant species for panfish anglers. The bite will improve as the water gets warmer. Rawson cove and the saddle dam were the most reported spots Mini jigs, and live worms are the most common panfish baits. Andrew Anchondo of Stanton reported a 1.11 pound crappie fishing with jigs near restroom 1.
