Diamond Valley Lake Fishing Report

Lake Elevation: 1662.20
Surface water temp: 65 – 67 degrees
Fish Plants: 2,000 pounds of Mt. Lassen rainbow trout will be planted on Thurs May 13th. (Trout plants are subject to change)
Lake Hours: 6:00am to 6:30 pm
Weather: Temperatures have been in the 60’s in the morning and rising to the high 70’s in the afternoon.

BASS
The spawn is still on! Senkos and Ikas in watermelon, drop shot rigged 6” plastics in purple, and Texas rigged watermelon brush hogs were the most reported baits. The south corner of the east dam and west dam, behind restroom 3 and near restroom 2 were the hot spots for bass.

TROUT
Trout fishing has been fair for boaters and shore anglers. Nightcrawlers, Powerbait, Powerworms, and mini Jigs have been the best baits. Most trout catches have been on the east dam or the coves west of the marina.

STRIPER
It was a slow week for striper Zplugs and LA Sliders were the most reported baits of the week. Kimmi Champagne of Hemet caught her first DVL striper at 10 pounds fishing from shore with an LA Slider. Jacob Petrillo of Corona caught a 22 pound striper fishing with a swimbait.

CATFISH
Anglers have been consistently catching cats from shore as well as boats. Mackerel and anchovies have been the most reported baits, but shrimp and chicken liver has accounted for a few reports. The most reported areas have been the saddle dam, Rawson cove, and near the wave attenuator. “Catfish Russ” reported a limit of cats from shore on liver his biggest cat at just over 16 pounds. Congratulations to Bob Baker of La Mesa who reeled in not only the biggest DVL catfish ever, but the biggest fish on record at the jewel. Bob was fishing at the mouth of catfish cove with a Yo Zuri plug when he hooked a 52.81 pound catfish.

PANFISH
The panfish bite spiked this week with a few blue gill and crappie reported. Rawson cove and the saddle dam were the most reported spots Mini jigs, and live worms are the most common panfish baits. Honree and Evan Davis caught tons of red ear and blue gill keeping their biggest at 2.7 pounds.
