Hello from your Lake Jennings! The trout continue to be the main attraction. Baiters are still outfishing the metal chuckers. The bass have moved to deeper water and are being found in the 40 to 50’ range. It is not the every crawdad equals a fish bite of a couple of weeks ago. Ikas and jigs and dropshotting morning dawn worms. No one is fishing for cats, but we know that they are biting because the trouters catch them incidentally.
Best Trout Spots: Cactus patch, Half Moon Cove and Sentry Points. Best Trout Lures/Bait: Inflated nightcrawlers and salmon peach Power Bait.
Best Catfish Spots: The dam buoyline and Cloister Cove. Best Catfish Bait: Chicken livers, mackerel, and night crawlers. Use scent liberally.
Best Bass Spots: The quarry. Best Bass Lures/Bait: Crawdads.
Notables: No fish over 3 lbs. or limits under 1 hour.
Prognosis: It is swimbait time, yet no one is throwing ‘em!! The waning moon should help the bite for everything. Trout trolling is still poor. We’re just about full, and things should settle down fairly soon. We expect a 1,000lb. load of Mt. Lassen’s great (Sierra Bow) trout this Tuesday.
Water Temperature: 54 degrees on the surface.
Current Schedule: Lake Jennings will be open this Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
