Hello from your Lake Jennings! Friday was a good day for trout fishing but after that it was a washout for everything. The muddy water from the creek in Hermit Cove should have produced cats but no one was fishing them. Sunday had a few anglers but not enough to get a read on the fishing.
Best Trout Spots: Cactus patch, Half Moon Cove and Sentry Points. Best Trout Lures/Bait: Inflated nightcrawlers and salmon peach Power Bait. Best Catfish Spots: The dam buoyline and Hermit Cove. Best Catfish Bait: Chicken livers, mackerel, and night crawlers. Use scent liberally. Best Bass Spots: The quarry. Best Bass Lures/Bait: Crawdads.
Notables: No fish over 3 lbs. or limits under 1 hour. Prognosis: We expect a 1,000 lb. load of Mt. Lassen’s great (Sierra Bow) trout this Tuesday. The crystal ball says the weather will be nice next weekend. The trout inventory is high, and we’re in pre-spawn with the bass. The water temp has risen from 54 to 56 degrees, and a 3-2 largemouth was caught 6’ off the bank on Sunday. Water Temperature: 56 degrees on the surface. Current Schedule: Lake Jennings will be open this Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
