The water level has finally come back up as Lake Skinner gets ready to host the 2010 Solar Cup, May 14th -16th. With the water level up and the warmer days, the bass fishing has been great. The bass are still holding in the shallows in the East End and along the South Shore. Dark plastics and worms are still the bait to have, however several fishermen are reporting that other colors are working for them as well. Striper fishing is spotty at best. Some fishermen have some luck, and on the same day others are not catching anything. You can find the striper by fishing the normal cruising waters of the striper schools. East End Channel and outside the Marina Bouyline are good places to try as well as Social Security Point and the channel leading back into the Ramp #2 Area. If the Inlet is flowing that is a great spot to test your luck, but many fishermen report that there is hardly any water coming into the lake. Heard some news about some cats, looks like they may finally be moving into shallow water, but no numbers coming in yet.
The following are the fish ratings: Bass: Excellent Bluegill: Good Carp: Good Catfish: Poor Crappie: Poor Striper: Fair
