Perhaps the biggest news this past week was the Temecula Valley Balloon & Wine festival. This is big news to fishermen because the lake was closed down for three days which means the fish had no pressure on them at all. Before the lake closed down, catfish were hittin the best. Most of the cats are coming in off of mackerel and chicken liver. Best spots have been the South Shore, Dam/Inlet and the Ramp #2 Area. Bass and bluegill tied for second best as the number of landed big bluegill rose this past week. Most of the big gills where caught along the South Shore off of worms and back in the Ramp#2 Area. Bass are hitting the best along the South Shore and back up in the East End. Still hitting dark plastics fished along the bottom, shallow in the morning dropping down to around 15-20 feet by mid day. Some spotty striper action, mostly in the morning. Anchovies and chicken liver working the best back in the East End Channel and the Inlet when it has been flowing.
Rate the action based over the past week:
Bass: Good Bluegill: Good Carp: Good Catfiish: Good Striper: Fair
