Bream: Very good. The bite continues to be for shellcracker. Look around secondary points with hard shell bottoms in 4-8 feet and fish with baby nightcrawlers. Striped Bass: Fair to good. The best fishing is still at the Gap around Dreher Island State Park, but fishing is also starting to pick up around the river split. Look for the birds and cast bucktails and ice flies. Catfish: Fair. The recent inflow of rainwater has muddied the lake and caused the baitfish to scatter, which has had the same effect on the catfish. Most fish are willing to bite, but they can be hard to locate. Look for baitfish close to the bottom with big arches (catfish) under them. Crappie: Slow to fair. The crappie bite is slow in the cold, muddy water. Use the trolling motor to hold and fish vertically over deep brush on the bottom of the channel. A mix of minnows and jigs should work. Largemouth Bass: Slow. Use a jigging spoon to catch fish vertically in 30-40 feet.
