Crappie: Fair to good. Fish are around Wateree Creek and Singleton Creek. Tight-lining 18 feet deep over 20 feet of water is most productive. Most catches are made on straight minnows, with a small percentage coming on jigs. Catfish: Slow to fair. Large flocks of gulls and cormorants, both active and idle, can be seen in the area of stressed schools of small threadfin shad. Large blue catfish in the 30- to 60-plus-pound range have been biting very well on cut shad anchored on the bottom, but the bite seems to be slowing as fish may have already gorged.
