The lake level is 159.65 which is 4.75ft. below pool. The water temperature is finally cooling down. The top-water bite is coming on strong. I caught several keepers early off the edge of the hydrilla mats with a white 1/4 oz. Boogerman buzz bait. That bite slowed down from about 11am to 3pm but picked back up afterward. I caught a 5#, a 4# and 6 other keepers fishing the submerged grass from 5pm to dusk with a neon shad Vixen from Reaction Innovations. They were all over it. I landed 4 in 6 casts. This is a great bait! We won the Mediabass tournament in March with it. I can't believe they have discontinued them.
I want to talk a bit about sportsmanship. There was a TAVC tournament out of Cassell's Boykin yesterday and they were the rudest bunch I've seen on the lake since the Splash. These guys would run on plane through your fishing water. I was out on a hump in the Black Forest dragging a line for spots and this guy motors up to within 25 yards of my boat. He was so close he could cast in my live-well. When I mentioned something to him about where's his sportsmanship he said it didn't matter since I wasn't in his tournament. This guy had on a Yamaha jersey with ONEIL across the back. He probably hunts out of other people's deer stands too.
Big Sam is 114,000 acres and sportsmanship should extend to everyone on the lake. A true professional would understand that concept. If you need to belly up to someone that close on a fishery as large as this you might as well put your boat back on the trailer and take up knitting because you have not done your homework.
I'll be out on the lake alot this week prefishing for the BFL super tournament next weekend. I'll post a time or two before then.
Blessed be and Good fish'n!!!!
